I've been writing technical documentation for 8+ years, and really enjoy using my writing skills to make technology easier for people to use.
Below are some examples of my technical writing work that was created while managing E-Learning @ FAA, the instructional design department in the College of Fine & Applied Arts at the University of Illinois. Unfortunately, most of my technical writing work at InVision was for internal use and can't be shared.
Weighted Total Columns in Grade Center
Challenge
Create a document to help faculty weight student grades in the university's LMS (learning management system).
We knew this was a frequent blocker that kept faculty from using the system, and pain point for current faculty users based on interview data. The example in the document was used to promote my team's recommended grade weighting for online courses.

Adding a Header to a Compass Course
Challenge
Create an internal document to help current and future team members add HTML code to online courses that was needed to apply our proprietary CSS styles.
This information hadn't been written down before, and individual team members were relied on to share it with one another. The HTML code had been updated to align with our new online course template, so this document was used as an opportunity to codify best practices in adding HTML as well.

How to Submit Audio/Video Files in Compass
Challenge
Create a guide for student users on how to submit audio and video files in the university's LMS.
Our most popular courses were performing arts courses—Theatre and Dance—which required students to submit video content for assignments. The process for doing so was difficult, and we found that student churn dates coincided with video assignment due dates and the amount of video submission issues reported by students. Since one of these courses had over 1,000 students, this churn was costly. I created this document for both large a small courses to support students' media submission needs.
